Instructions on How to Program W5 Satellite into 4DTV Receivers
Before You Begin: You will need a master reset if TDT count is at 1920, and only to be done if needed. If you have been clicking w5 on your program satellites list and it keeps taking you back to the previous screen, then you may require a master reset. You will need to check you TDT count, by hitting Options 6,0,5. This will give you a Diagnostic A screen. Using your left arrow key, move to Diagnostic G. Look at line 1, column 5. If it is at 1920, your memory is full and you will require a master reset.
1. Move your satellite dish to G4 satellite if you have it programmed into your 4DTV. Go to channel 16, make sure that Shepherds Chapel picture is clear, and press Option 5. Write down the dish position and H and V skew settings on a piece of paper. Press your Exit or View button. Move your dish to G3 satellite and go to any channel that you are subscribed to. Verify the picture is good quality, then press Option 5 and write down the dish position and H and V skew settings. Subtract the G3 dish position from the G4 setting, and divide that number by two. This gives you the number of counts that your satellite dish is programmed between adjacent satellites. Multiply that number by 3, and add that to the G4 dish position. This will give you the approximate position W5 needs to be programmed at in your 4DTV.
If the dish position number for G3 is higher than the dish position for G4, you
will need to subtract the calculated number from the G4 position instead of
adding it on, to find the position W5 should be located at.
2. Push Option 6, 4, 4, highlight the W5 satelite icon, and push Enter. Type in 603 to select channel 603 on W5 satellite. Then, use your down arrow to go to the dish position number and use your left and right arrow keys to move the dish position to the number you calculated in step 1, above, which is the W5 location. Wait a few seconds to see if ALTV picture comes on your screen behind the satellite programming menu. Make sure that the H and V settings are the same as G3 and G4. Use your left and right arrow keys to adjust the dish position to get the highest value for quality that you can get, then press GO BACK and ENTER to save that dish position and skew settings in memory. Then press Exit or View to get out of the programming
3. Follow these instructions in the event W5 does not appear in the list of satellites available to be programmed. After pressing Option 6, 4, 4, you need to remap your 4DTV receiver according to procedures specified for your model number. If you have a model 922, move your dish to G1-150. Make sure your green DC light is illuminated, turn off your 4DTV using the Power button, unplug it from the electricity for only 30 seconds, and then plug it back in again. Leave it turned off for 60 minutes. After 60 minutes, turn the 4DTV back on, press Option 6,4,4, and the list should include the W5 icon. From here, you can continue to program it at the correct dish position using the procedures in #1 and #2 above. If you have a model 920 receiver, we recommend that you do a master reset instead of unplugging because it is very risky to unplug a model 920. It is possible to lose the memory and even the unit id number on a model 920 if the Lithium battery is too old.
